Phase 3 - 2011
Paving of the trail, and the construction of the shelters and observation deck. Additional tree planting and the creation of flower beds were also completed in 2011
Progress Reports
June
On the weekend of June 18th and 19th a work party assembled the two 12' x 12' shelter roofs and constructed a wooden wall around the port-a-pottie. The two roof assemblies will be installed on wooden post bolted to the steel anchor plates affixed to the existing concrete bases.
July
The roofs for the two 12' x 12' shelters were positioned to the posts using a crane provided by G. Lorentson Rentals, Crane Service.
On July 14th, the parking lot & trail were paved.
September
The maple trees planted last year are now showing their colours. Two flower beds were created by volunteers. Additional steel supports were installed in the posts to stabilize the structure.
October
The Carpentry students from Confederation College constructed the large shelter & deck on site.
November
The assembled roof was lifted and placed to the side while the basses were repositioned. Work on the handicap access ramp was completed by the crew. The roof weighing in at 6000 lbs was installed on the posts thanks to Glen Lorentson crane services.
This concludes the work for this year....many thanks to all those merchants who supported this project and to all the volunteers who continue to donate their time and efforts.
