Progress Reports - 2012

A volunteer day was held on June 16th 2012 in order to cut the grass and to create and plant the flower beds. Thanks to Adam Campbell for the donation of crushed rock for drainage around the shelters, and for the use of his machinery in placing the rock for the flower beds.

On June 30th 2012 TK Renovations (Terry Kosolowski and Wes Bender) began the installation of the metal roofing. The work began at 7 am and continued for 15 hours dispite the 30°C heat.

August 8 2012 Benches were constructed and installed on the observation deck by Larry Doggett.

Progress Report - 2013

In July 2013, the Thunder Bay District Stewardship Rangers completed the flower beds along the trail and at the entrance.

August saw a new patronage sign installed to thank all the volunteers and businesses that helped to make this project a success.

In November the City has paved the access to the shelters and started the landscaping on the adjacent grounds. A bike rack was installed on the concrete pad.

Progress report - 2018

The park was re designated as "Lorne Allard Fishermans Park" in memory of Lorne Allard. Lorne was a founding member of the NSSA and had also served as a City Councillor for many years.

In a ceremony attended by members of Lorne's family, members of the NSSA, numerous civic leaders, and members of the general public the new sign was unveiled.

Progress report - 2019

Fisherman's Park was designated as the land access for the Trans Canada Water Route which is a part of the Trans Canada Trail project. A kayak storage unit was installed.
